May 3, 2008 DWU Track and Field Teams Compete
SIOUX CITY, IOWA — The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the 2008 Great Plains Athletic Conference Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday (May 3). The DWU men scored eight points, and the women did not score any points. Freshman Frank Thompson had the highest finish for DWU. Thompson, from Trenton, N.J., had a jump of 6-06 to finish in fourth place and automatically receive All-GPAC honors. Two other members of the DWU men’s team earned All-GPAC honors by finishing in the top eight in their events. Layne Scheveck finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.18, and Thomas Madut had a time of 33:42.36 in the 10,000-meter run to finish in eighth place. Other top-ten finishes for the Tigers were Danny Hutcheson in the long jump (T10th place) and Isaac VanDyke in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9th place). Doane’s women scored 208 points and won the team title, while the Doane men scored 212 points in winning the team championship. |
