Nov. 7, 2008 DWU postpones basketball games again MITCHELL, S.D. – With winter storms still affecting road conditions throughout South Dakota, the Dakota Wesleyan University men’s and women’s basketball teams have been forced to push their home-opening series against Black Hills State University and South Dakota Schools of Mines and Technology back another day. The games, originally scheduled for Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, were postponed until Saturday and Sunday afternoons. However, with parts of I-90 still closed until noon Saturday, the Tigers home opener had to be delayed again, the Dakota Wesleyan athletic department announced Friday evening. Now, the Tigers will host Black Hills State Sunday, with the women’s game at 2 p.m. and the men’s game at 4 p.m. The doubleheader with South Dakota Tech has also been pushed back another day. Those games will now be played Monday at the Corn Palace with the women’s game at noon and the men’s game at 2 p.m. Monday’s game will be played in the afternoon due to a concert scheduled for Monday evening at the Corn Palace. The early start also allows South Dakota Tech to travel home that afternoon. The scheduling changes this weekend have also affected fellow GPAC school Mount Marty College. BHSU and South Dakota Tech are also playing the Lancers in Yankton, S.D., this weekend on opposite days, so any and all schedule changes have had an extra link in the chain. Both the DWU men and women enter the weekend with perfect 2-0 records. The Tiger men are ranked eighth in the NAIA Top 25 Poll. The DWU women will also play at home Tuesday when they host Gustavus Adolphus University (Minn.) at the Corn Palace at 7 p.m. |
