Melissa Waddell was named the Sports Information Director at
Dakota Wesleyan in November of 2007. She also serves at the Director
of Internal Affairs in the DWU Athletic Department. Waddell previously
served as the head volleyball coach at Dakota Wesleyan University
for three seasons.
As the DWU volleyball coach, she coached six All-Conference players
and nine NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Waddell was the top assistant
of the DWU volleyball program during the 2004 season. Before coming
to DWU in 2004, Waddell had previous coaching experience at different
high school levels at Frederick/Hecla, Aberdeen Roncalli, Rapid
City Stevens and Rapid City Central.
Waddell graduated from Northern State University in 1999, where
she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and
sociology with minors in coaching and criminal justice.
While at NSU, she played four years of varsity volleyball.
Waddell earned her master’s degree in education at Dakota
Wesleyan.
She and her husband, Blake, the assistant track and field and
football coach at DWU, live in Mitchell and have three children.
