Patrick Belling Patrick Belling is in his second season as the head coach of the Tiger cross country and track and field programs. In his first season at DWU, Belling guided the Tiger men’s cross country team to two team titles and an eighth place finish at the GPAC Championships. In track & field, two athletes qualified for the NAIA National Championships in Indoor Season, while three athletes qualified for the Outdoor NAIA National Championships. He has coached three All-GPAC performers and six NAIA Scholar Athletes. Belling comes to Dakota Wesleyan after spending the past three seasons as the track & field graduate assistant coach at the University of South Dakota. He worked with the sprinters and was part of the Coyote outdoor squad that finished fourth in the nation, the second-best outdoor finish in school history. Belling, an Omaha, Neb., native was a three-time NCAA All-American sprinter at USD. He was on two Coyote teams that won NCC titles. He was a member of the 4x400 meter relay squad that finished sixth at the 2002 NCAA-II Outdoor Nationals. Belling was also a member of the 4x100 unit that set a state of South Dakota mark of 40.80 in 2001-02. Belling received his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from USD in December 2003 and recently completed his Master of Arts degree in athletic administration from USD in May of 2006. Pat Belling was a graduate of Omaha Roncalli Catholic H.S., where he was a Nebraska Class B state champion in the 100m, 200m and 400m at the 1999 state track meet. His time of 21.92 won the All-Class Gold medal that year and his time of 10.79 in the 100m set a new Class B state meet record.
Blake Waddell is in his second season as the top assistant track and field and assistant football coach at Dakota Wesleyan University. He returns to the football coaching staff at DWU after coaching for two seasons in 2003 and 2004. He will assist on defense and coach the outside linebackers. Waddell was a member of the football and track and field teams at NCAA-II Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Northern State University in 1999. The Rapid City, S.D., native currently serves as vice president of the Mitchell Aquatic Club Board of Directors. He is also a junior achievement classroom mentor and is a volunteer to promote solid habits for youth in the Mitchell area. Waddell and his wife, Melissa, the head volleyball coach at Wesleyan, live in Mitchell and have three children. Dave Gukeisen Gukeisen works for Progressive Insurance Company and lives in Mitchell
with his wife, Kim. They have three children: Hailey, Olivia and Dax. |
