Interested in becoming a Tiger? short at Region III Golf Championships SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan University women’s golf team shaved 15 strokes off their day-one performance in route to winning the NAIA Region III Women’s Golf Championship at Elmwood Golf Course on Tuesday, April 29. The Tiger men finished in second place by one stroke to Midland Lutheran College on the men’s side.
DWU women shot a 659 for the two-day event, and beat out GPAC regular season champion, University of Sioux Falls, by an astounding 35 strokes. Dana College and Hastings College ended up in a tie for third place with team scores of 706. Wesleyan’s Amber Raisanen was the top individual medalist with a 159 (81-78). DWU’s Kelli Baseley and USF’s Brittnay Hofer tied for second at 161. Cassidy Potter finished tied for fifth with a 168, and Abby Wheeling shot an 84-87 to end in a tie for ninth place. Heather Love rounds out the Tiger roster with a 180 and tied for 21st. The DWU women’s team automatically qualifies for the NAIA Women’s Golf Championship on May 20-23 in San Diego, California. On the men’s side, the Tigers shot a 619 to finish in second place, and Midland Lutheran College won the two-day event with a 618. Dordt College finished in third with a 630, and after leading day one, the University of Sioux Falls slipped down to finish in fourth place with a 631. Luke Vermeer of Northwestern College was the top individual medalist with a 148. Brett Abbotts and Nick Gates led the Tigers with a 154 each and ended in a tie for eighth place. Tyler Evenson finished in 10th place with a 155; Tom Hoek finished tied for 11th place with a 156; and Chris Pritchard had a 158 for a tie for 18th. DWU Results
