Services
The DWU athletic training staff, physicians and athletic training students provide
DWU student-athletes with advanced health care services for all injuries associated
with athletic participation. The staff and physicians are able to use an extensive
variety of modern treatment modalities and rehabilitative equipment to help
the injured athlete return to competition quickly and safely. Additionally,
staff ATCs provide on-site coverage for most DWU athletic teams for home practices
and events, and various away competitions.
Mission
The athletic training department at Dakota Wesleyan University is
dedicated to providing sports medicine services to each of the
approximately 280 student-athletes
participating in the Tigers’ 13 intercollegiate sports. The athletic
training department is comprised of team physicians, certified staff athletic
trainers and numerous athletic training students who collectively help
to provide a safe environment, including prevention, treatment, evaluation
and
rehabilitation services to the DWU intercollegiate athletic population. The philosophy of the athletic training staff is based on patient
care, education and community service. The goal of the staff is to
provide the best health care coverage to the student-athlete and to
help each student-athlete reach his or her maximum potential and return
from injury as safely as possible with the help of an established team
of health care professionals. The athletic training department and
staff are also committed to providing a learning experience and clinical
instruction site for the undergraduate athletic training students enrolled
in the DWU Athletic Training education program.
