Phi Beta Lambda

The Dakota Wesleyan University chapter of Phi Beta Lambda was organized in 1984 by a group of students led by Ralph Roth, an associate professor of business administration and economics. The organization is intended for business majors, but is open to students majoring in any discipline.

PBL is a great organization for college students to work on improving their leadership and communication skills by running for local, state or even national offices. Another great benefit of being a member of PBL is the networking you are able to do. The state organization of PBL www.sdpbl.org holds two conferences a year. The fall conference focuses on workshops and speakers, while the spring conference is devoted to student competitions.

The top two winners in the spring state conference competition have the opportunity to compete at the National Leadership Conference in the summer. Two years ago at national competition, DWU had a first-place winner in the public speaking event and last year a member placed sixth with her State Chapter Annual Business Report. To learn more about the national PBL organization, go to www.fbla-pbl.org.
