University Scholars Program (USP)
The University Scholars Program is a four-year program that provides highly
motivated students with experiences designed to expand their personal and
professional horizons, develop their skills as scholar-researchers and
encourage them to be academic leaders within the DWU learning community.
The university offers two or more courses each semester under the USP designation.
Other courses can be offered individually as USP courses with the consent
of the instructor and with a special contract between the instructor and
the USP student, demonstrating the special criteria that create an honors-level
course. These contract courses should be reviewed and approved by the USP
director before registration.
Students who complete three USP courses, produce and present a piece
of original scholarship at the annual banquet, and maintain at least
a 3.5 cumulative GPA will be designated as University Scholars in
the Commencement program.
Requirements for admission to the USP and other information about
the program are available from the USP director or the office of
academic affairs and dean.
