Academic Pursuits
The McGovern Center for Leadership and Public Service endorses several DWU majors and minors that apply to fields in the public service sector. Students interested in securing a career in humanitarian outreach, public policy, or political service are encouraged to discuss options with McGovern Center faculty. These might include: Nonprofit Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Communications, Business, and more. Ethics, communication skills, critical analysis, and practical experience through internships and service-learning opportunities are educational components stressed throughout these curriculums.

McGovern Center director Dr. Alisha Vincent’s academic expertise is in administration and leadership and she oversees the nonprofit administration major and minor at DWU and also teaches courses that include leadership, public policy, social justice, global service, and international outreach. Vincent is also collaborating on the development of an exciting online course for students and community members devoted to McGovern history and philosophy of leadership to launch in the fall 2015.
