The Great Debate
In honor of Sen. McGovern’s passion for debate, DWU is working to engage students in a Great Debate each fall. This fall the Great Debate will feature candidates vying for South Dakota’s Senate seat, which will be vacated by Sen. Tim Johnson-D. Students and community members will participate in asking debate questions and DWU’s debate club president will serve as one of the panelists with representatives from the media and local community.

South Dakota Hunger DialogueUniversities Fighting World Hunger (a McGovern Center-sponsored student club) will work with the McGovern Center to facilitate a state-wide dialogue about hunger in the spring 2015. The goal of the dialogue is to engage students from universities around South Dakota, as well as government leaders and nonprofit agencies who work on hunger alleviation, to create and implement policies and collaborative projects that help to combat hunger in South Dakota.
