Federal Loan Counseling
All students who take out federal student loans are required to participate in entrance and exit counseling.

Entrance counseling
Student loan entrance counseling will further assist you in understanding your rights and responsibilities as a Perkins loan borrower and as a Direct Loan Borrower and is required for all first time DWU borrowers.

FEDERAL PERKINS LOAN ENTRANCE COUNSELING
  • Click agree
  • Review all information and answer all questions

FEDERAL DIRECT LOAN ENTRANCE COUNSELING
  • Go to middle of the page and select “Complete Loan Entrance Counseling”
  • Select “Complete Entrance Counseling”
  • Add DWU
  • Select “I am completing entrance counseling in order to receive loans as an undergraduate.”
  • If you are a first time borrower after completing the loan entrance counseling please click the link to complete the Master Promissory Note.

DIRECT LOAN MASTER PROMISSORY NOTE
  • In the middle of the page select “Complete Master Promissory Note”
  • Choose Subsidized/Unsubsidized
  • Complete all information requested and review all sections.
  • Enter your name and select Sign. Open the “Review Master Promissory Note”. After reviewing your MPN select Submit. The last page gives you the option to print your completed MPN out.

exit counseling Student loan exit counseling will prepare you for entering loan repayment and is required for all student borrowers at the time of exiting the university. The Financial Aid Office will direct you to the correct link below when completing this process.

DIRECT LOAN EXIT COUNSELING
  • Go to middle of the page and select “Complete Counseling”
  • Under Exit Counseling select “Start” and complete the process

NATIONAL STUDENT LOAN DATA SYSTEM

When calculating your total Federal loans outstanding, add together the “Outstanding Principal” and “Outstanding Interest” columns.
