Loan entrance counseling and Stafford MPN
Student loan entrance counseling will further help you understand your
rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower and is required
for all first time-borrowers at DWU. The Master Promissory Note is a
legal document. You may only complete and sign the Master Promissory
Note if you are the student borrower. By signing an MPN, you are agreeing
to pay back any Stafford loans that you receive for your education.
Please see the instruction sheet provided by the financial aid office
in completing the loan entrance counseling and MPN process.
Commonly
Used Federal Stafford Loan Lenders – Students who
are taking out their first Federal loan will need to go through both
sessions of loan entrance counseling and Stafford MPN. This is a seamless
process if you follow the “Commonly Used Federal Stafford Loan
Lenders” link. The process will take approximately 20 minutes
to complete.
Continuing
Students – Students who have a prior Federal Stafford
Loan will not have to do another Master Promissory Note if their loans
have been processed with Education Assistance Corporation (EAC). However,
these students will need to complete the loan entrance counseling by
clicking on the “Continuing Students” link.
