Financial Aid for Undergraduate Students

Academic and Extracurricular Scholarship Opportunities

Individual scholarships may have GPA maintenance or continued participation requirements. You must be a full time student to be eligible for any of the awards listed below.

In addition to institutional awards, students are encouraged to apply for outside scholarships to meet their educational expenses and to minimize the need for student loans.

Presidential Scholarship
$6,000 to $8,500 per year

Academic Scholarships
Students who apply and are accepted for admission will be considered for academic scholarships based on their high school GPA and standardized testing scores (ACT/SAT). All scholarships are renewable for four years.

Fine Art Awards
These awards require auditions or other assessments in order to determine the student’s award. Awards are in addition to academic merit. Music, Art, and Theater scholarships are available to students. Contact an admissions counselor for further information.

Athletic Awards
Athletic awards are determined by the coach and are available in the following sports:

Men's Sports:
Football
, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, Cross-Country, Soccer, Track and Field, Wrestling

Women's Sports:
Volleyball
, Basketball, Softball, Golf, Cross-Country, Soccer, Track and Field

Transfer and Non-traditional Student Scholarship
These awards range from $2,000 to $9,000 annually.

United Methodist Scholarships
Dakota Wesleyan University recognizes the importance of our United Methodist heritage and offers eligible students scholarships based on their membership and involvement in their United Methodist Church.

The university also offers the Bishop Leadership Award, a three-quarter tuition award which is given to a student who has demonstrated a strong commitment to youth leadership in their local church and who pledges to be active in campus ministry activities at Dakota Wesleyan University.

Other scholarships and loans are available through the United Methodist General Board of Higher Education & Ministry and the United Methodist Foundation. Visit with an admissions counselor for specific details and application materials.
