Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology
Program:

Up to $10,000

Eligibility:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be enrolled full-time at an accredited university in the U.S. or U.S. Territory

  • Must have earned and must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Native Vision Scholarships
Program:

Native Vision will award two scholarships to Native youth entering their first year of college in the Fall of 2012.

Eligibility:
  • Be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe;
  • Demonstrate a sustained involvement in the community and an applied concern for American Indian issues and initiatives;
  • Maintain a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 at the time of application;
  • Demonstrate involvement in extracurricular and/or athletic activities;
  • Be admitted to an accredited community college or four year undergraduate program (for fall 2012)
How to Apply:
  • Completed application describing school activities, community activities, athletic activities and financial information.
  • Proof of membership in a federally recognized tribe.
  • A 200 word essay explaining goals for the future and how the Native Vision scholarship would assist in achieving dreams. Please emphasize how goals relate to continued involvement in American Indian/Alaska Native communities.
  • High school transcript indicating GPA.
  • Two (2) completed recommendation forms including written statements from recommenders (recommendations cannot come from a family member).

Nursing Education Scholarship
Program:

$1,000 bi-annual scholarship to be awarded to applicant chosen; shall benefit any High School Senior currently applying for college, nursing school or medical vocational or technical training school or current college undergraduate in a premedical, nursing, or medical technician program.

Eligibility:
  • Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age and be enrolled in and attending full-time a public, private or home school and be in their final year, previous to attending college or an institution of advanced or higher learning, of schooling at stated institution.
  • Applicant shall be at least 17 years of age and be accepted and attending full-time an accredited University, college, secondary training, technical institution or vocational institution, either private or public.
  • Applicant must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA based on the previous year's academic performance.
  • Applicant must be applying to or currently attending a premedical, nursing, nursing assistant or medical technical program at an accredited university or technical college, private or public.
How to Apply: Applicant shall submit an essay of at least 500 words but not more than 1000 words that explains what they hope to accomplish in the medical field and how they will impact the lives of others with the education and knowledge they acquire while in medical training. Essay will also include the student's opinion of why they feel they should be selected to receive the scholarship funds. Deadline: Applications are now being accepted and will close one month prior to the date the award is given. Applications for the next round of scholarship funding will open one day after the date the scholarship is awarded.

Panzirer Family Public Safety Scholarship
Program:

$5,000 Scholarship

Eligibility:
  • Applicant must be the son or daughter, step-son or step-daughter, or adopted child of an active or former member of law enforcement
  • Resident of SD
  • Criminal Justice degree will be given preference

SDFU Foundation Scholarship
Program:

$25,000 in scholarships will be awarded to South Dakota high school seniors

Eligibility:
  • South Dakota high school senior whose parent or parents are current policyholders of Farmers Union Insurance
  • Member of South Dakota Farmers Union
  • A “Friend of the Farmers Union Foundation” (Defined as those who have contributed $25 or more to the Foundation in the past year)
  • Participant in any South Dakota High School Activities Association (SDHSAA) sanctioned event

Program:

$500-$1,000 Scholarships

Eligibility:

Applicants must be enrolled full-time for the fall semester (2012-2013) in a retail-related course of study at a college, university or vocational school, or other postsecondary trade school. Recipients must be either a graduate of a South Dakota high school or GED program -or- be enrolled in a South Dakota post-secondary school. An applicant must complete one year of college or one semester of vocational school by September 2012.

SMART Scholarship
Program:

Science, Mathematics & Research for Transformation

Eligibility:
  • a U.S. citizen at time of application,
  • 18 years of age or older as of August 1, 2012,
  • able to participate in summer internships at DoD laboratories,
  • willing to accept post-graduate employment with the DoD,
  • a student in good standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (as calculated by the SMART application) and,
  • pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the disciplines listed on the About SMART page.

Program:

Awards between $1,000 and $10,000 to qualified minorities enrolled in a technical degree program at the bachelor level or above.
