Short- and Long-term Disability  Insurance
DWU's short-term disability program is self-insured; long-term disability insurance is provided by UNUM.

• entire cost of coverage paid by DWU
• employees working 3/4-time or more are covered
• STD starts day 31 of qualified disability – used after paid leave is exhausted
• LTD starts day 185 of qualified disability
• benefit is 60% replacement of monthly salary (benefit reduced by benefits received from other disability coverage, and paid until benefits received elsewhere replace this coverage)
