Paid Time Off
* 1/2-time employees are eligible on a pro rata basis. Sick Leave [TOP] Eight hours of sick leave will accrue for each month worked for full-time employees. Staff employees who work more than half-time but less than full-time and faculty members will receive this benefit on a prorated basis. Sick leave is cumulative, except for employees leaving the University, in which case accumulated sick leave is voided. However, no more than 360 hours of sick leave can accumulate (prorated for pro rata employees). An employee may be required to furnish satisfactory medical proof of sickness or disability if requested. When an employee is absent from work, the supervisor should be kept informed of the circumstances. Employees who use sick leave should turn in an Absence Slip. Please see the Employee Handbook, or contact your supervisor or Human Resources for more information. Vacation [TOP] All regular staff employees who work half-time or more year-round are entitled to vacation leave with pay. Accumulation of vacation leave will begin with the first day of employment. Employees who work less-than-full-time accrue at a prorated rate of the accrual amounts indicated in the schedules below. Employees should arrange vacation leave with their supervisors as far in advance as possible. There is no pay in lieu of annual vacation leave, except in the case of separation. If a holiday occurs during an employee's vacation, it is not counted as leave. Employees should request permission from their supervisors and turn in an Absence Slip before their vacation begins. Please see the Employee Handbook, or contact your supervisor or Human Resources for more information. Personal Business Day [TOP] Full-time employees will be allowed eight personal-business hours per fiscal year; employees who work less than full-time will receive a prorated number of hours. Employees should request permission from their supervisors and turn in an Absence Slip before taking personal business leave. Please see the Employee Handbook, or contact your supervisor or Human Resources for more information. Family Death, or Funeral, Leave [TOP] Employees should request permission from their supervisors and turn in an Absence Slip before taking family death or funeral leave. Please see the Employee Handbook, or contact your supervisor or Human Resources for more information. Snow Days & Other Emergency
Closings [TOP] When classes are cancelled due to a safety related issue, such as bad weather, University employees are excused from work for the period of the cancellation. If classes have been cancelled for some other reason, such as a funeral or other special activity, the President will decide if University employees should report to work. When the University decides to close for those reasons for a period not exceeding three (3) work days, employees will be paid for those days. Payment is otherwise at the discretion of the University. |
