Assistant/Associate Professor of Sports Management and Business

Dakota Wesleyan University, a private four year liberal arts university affiliated with the United Methodist Church, is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Sports Management in the Department of Business beginning either January 2010 or August 2010.

The position will involve teaching undergraduate courses in sports management as well as general business courses, advising students, participating in institutional leadership and community service, engaging in appropriate applied research, and assisting in the development and supervision of selected experiential learning initiatives within the sports management program.

All applicants are expected to have a master’s degree with emphasis in sports management. A PhD in either sports management or a related field is preferred. Additional preferred characteristics include teaching experience at the undergraduate level; experience with a sports related business; background in healthcare or fitness administration; and ability to teach courses in the general business program.

The sports management program is a part of the university’s department of business, which is one of the larger departments at the university. The sports management program currently offers emphases in marketing and promotions and organizational and personnel management. The university also offers a program in sport, exercise and wellness. The sports management program thrives by creating experiential learning opportunities to take their understanding of sports management out of the classroom and into various applied settings.

Assistant Professor of Vocal Music

Dakota Wesleyan University is seeking for an Assistant Professor of Vocal Music. It is desired that the individual be able to teach a general range of music courses which support our general education program. In addition, the individual would have a strong vocal background and would be responsible for directing the college choir and ensembles. The individual will chair the music program and work with others to recruit and build a stronger co-curricular music program on campus. As well, the selected hire would initially work at strengthening enrollment in a music minor and eventually rebuilding the music major. A terminal degree is preferred and master’s degree in music is required. The position is tenure track with a terminal degree required at the time of applying for tenure.

Successful candidates will have excellent communication and organizational skills and have a demonstrated commitment to the mission of DWU and our values of learning, leadership, faith, and service.
