Using your myweb account at DWU

Your myweb account will have the URL:
Put your username in place of username in the example

1. To move files into your directory (folder) you have to use ftp.

Open Internet Explorer and minimize the window, so you can still see My Computer icon.

2. In the address bar type:
Put your username in place of username in the example

3. Hit ENTER
You will have to type your password into the dialog box that pops up. Then you should see a blank web page.

That means there is currently nothing in your myweb directory.

4. Open My Computer and resize the window so you can see it and your myweb window.

5. Navigate in My Computer to the file you would like to put in your myweb directory.

If clicking on a folder opens a new window, just resize it so you can still see your myweb directory window.

6. Click once to turn the file blue, then drag the file from the My Computer window to your myweb directory
window. (OR, copy it from My Documents window and paste it in the myweb directory window).

You have now placed a file in your web space and students can find it on the Internet if they type in the
correct URL (in this example: http://myweb.dwu.edu/krmurtha/911notes105.doc)
