Getting DWU e-mail
from home
You can use your existing internet account from home, or configure your
favorite email application on your own computer. These instructions provide
the settings to get e-mail from the DWU mail server.
Proper setup of your e-mail client is your
responsibility and no support can be provided outside these instructions.
If using the DWU dial up, or the
dorm room connection to DWU:
Set the POP server on your mail program
to: mail.dwu.edu (This is sometimes called the 'Incoming mail server')
Set the SMTP server on your mail program
to: mail.dwu.edu (This is sometimes called the 'Outgoing mail server')
The POP account is the same as your
username for the network. (This is sometimes called the 'User
account,' 'POP3 account,' or 'mail account')
Your mail program will probably have a
selection to 'Remove mail messages form the server.' If this is selected,
Your messages will be downloaded to your computer and are no longer
available from the server. Likewise, if you download the mail messages to
your computer, you wont be able to view them using the web mail.
If you are using your personal
internet account:
Set the POP server on your mail program
to: mail.dwu.edu (This is sometimes called the 'Incoming mail server')
You will need to leave the SMTP server on
your mail program set to your internet provider's server. (This is
sometimes called the 'Outgoing mail server')
The POP account should be your network
logon at school. (This is sometimes called the 'User account,' 'POP3
account,' or 'mail account')
Your mail program will probably have a
selection to 'Remove mail messages from the server.' If this is selected,
Your messages will be downloaded to your computer and will no longer
available from the server.
