Laptop Requirement for LPN-RN program
(Comprehensive Assessment and Review Program)
Students are required to bring a laptop computer to class to complete an Internet-based nationally standardized assessment in each nursing content area (i.e.- medical-surgical nursing). These tools can help students prepare more efficiently, as well as increase confidence and familiarity with nursing concepts.

Each student will receive review modules and DVD with each major nursing content area. Based on the NCLEX-RN blueprint, each assessment identifies specific areas of content weakness for further study. Items contain rationale for all response options to further strengthen the student’s understanding of the content. The final stage of the program provides three stages of preparation for computer adaptive testing (CAT) used by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing licensure examination for registered nurses.

Required computer minimum specifications include:

• 1.3 GHz or faster processor, a 30 Gigabyte or larger hard drive
• DVD/CDRW drive
• 512 MB Ram, USB Ports, USB Memory Drive
• 10/100 Ethernet card and/or an Integrated Wireless IEEE802.11 wireless network card if the student has a laptop.
• Windows XP Professional Operating System.

• Required application software is Microsoft Office 2007 (available through campus licensure).
