General Information The nursing curriculum is based upon the philosophy of caring and builds upon the three nursing roles (provider of care, manager of care and member within the discipline of nursing) of the associate degree nurse and the four major concepts of person, health/illness, environment and nursing. The nursing program is designed to offer the body of knowledge and learning experiences necessary to prepare individuals for associate degree nursing practice. Graduates of the nursing program earn an associate of arts degree and will have satisfied the academic requirements necessary for eligibility to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) for licensure as a registered nurse (RN). The associate degree nursing program is approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing and is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 590, Atlanta, GA 30326; telephone-404-975-5000; Web site: www.nlnac.org.
