Mission Statement:
The Arlene Gates Department of Nursing of Dakota Wesleyan University aspires to prepare
students for a meaningful career in professional nursing in a liberal
arts setting. The nursing faculty cultivates a challenging learning environment

Two Year, Associate Degree
(AA) Plan of Study, Mitchell Campus or Huron Site
Students can complete the nursing program, pass the national
licensing exam (NCLEX-RN) and begin practicing as a registered
nurse (RN) in two years.

RN-BAN Completion Program
The RN-BAN Completion Program provides the opportunity for RN
students to develop abilities and skills related to the roles
of the baccalaureate nurse. The nursing component of the program
is offered online, which accommodates the goal-directed adult
learner. |

One Year, Associate Degree (AA)
LPN-RN Plan of Study, Sioux Falls Site
Courses are designed for LPN's to enhance knowledge of human health
needs and nursing interventions while developing management of
care skills needed by the registered nurse (RN) in the current
health care setting. |

Active Involvement in the Profession
of nursing
Nursing students and nursing faculty are actively
involved in professional nursing organization activities at the
local, state and national level. AA Nursing Class of 2010 (Mitchell
& Huron) hosted the February 18-20, 2010 Nursing Student Association
of SD (NSASD)annual convention in the Sherman Center. |
