The nursing curriculum uses Roy’s Adaptation Model and builds upon the three nursing roles (provider of care, manager of care and member of a profession) of the associate degree nurse and the four major concepts of person, health, environment, and nurse.

The nursing program is designed to offer the body of knowledge and learning experiences necessary to prepare individuals for associate degree nursing practice. Graduates of the nursing program earn an associate of science degree and will have satisfied the academic requirements necessary for eligibility to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) for licensure as a registered nurse (RN).

The associate degree nursing program is approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing and is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc., 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326; telephone-404-975-5000; Web site:
