  • Aug. 2011 – Several 2nd year nursing students provided skill mentoring to new nursing students during the Nurse Aide Course (4 days)

  • Oct. 2011 – 10 students participated in a mock disaster drill at Avera Queen of Peace

  • Oct. 2011 – Homecoming – nursing students decorated a float for the parade, brought bags of candy, walked in the parade and tossed candy

  • Oct. 2011 – Several 2nd year nursing students participated in influenza clinics at Avera Brady and Avera Queen of Peace

  • Oct 2011 – raised monetary funds and donated candy for the local Trunk-or-Treat

  • Nov. 2011 – 19 nursing students helped with the community (POD) flu shot clinic at the Corn Palace

  • Nov. 2011 – 6 - 1st yr. nursing students helped with blood pressure screenings during the American Cancer Society’s “Grocers Against Cancer” community service project at County Fair Food Store

  • Nov. 2011 – 2nd yr. nursing students participated in “Holiday Mail for Heroes” - sending Christmas Cards to servicemen/veterans/their families (American Red Cross service project)

  • Dec. 2011 – Purchased items/provided monetary donations($250.00) for the Back Pack program

  • Dec. 2011 – Purchased diapers/provided monetary donations ($250.00) to assist the YWCA Teddy Bear Treasures program.

  • Dec. 2011 – Christmas Caroling at two assisted living/nursing home facilities
