Aug. 21, 2006 DWU theater season announced MITCHELL – The DWU communications/theatre department announces its 2006-2007 theater season under the direction of assistant professor and director Daniel L. Miller. “Barefoot in the Park” by Neil
Simon “Woman In Mind” by Alan Ayckbourn An Evening of Student Directed One Acts DWU’s first production, “Barefoot in the Park” by Neil Simon, presents audiences with Corrie and Paul Bratter who have just moved into an old fifth floor walk-up apartment after their honeymoon at the Plaza Hotel. She is a free-spirited young wife and he is a serious young lawyer. Add her somewhat prudish mother and the charming, yet strange, upstairs neighbor and you get a delightful comedy. In March, DWU presents a play written by Alan Ayckbourn, Britain’s most produced living playwright, in which one woman's fantasies take on nightmarish qualities as she recognizes her descent into madness. Because her real family treats her with condescension and apathy, she experiences hilarious hallucinations about an ideal, loving and caring husband and children. “Woman in Mind” is a theater experience at once funny, painful and exhilarating. Finally, in April the department will present several one act plays directed by DWU students. In the past these diverse selections have pleased and surprised audiences.
