Dec. 6, 2006 Catalano, Logan named DWU quarterly winners
MITCHELL – Mike Catalano and Paul Logan are the winners of the Professional Excellence Award for the third quarter at Dakota Wesleyan University. Mike Catalano, professor of mathematics since 1992, is the faculty member winner. Catalano was cited for being an excellent teacher, musician and colleague. “Mike has served as chair of the math department, interim academic dean, and is currently heading up the HLC accreditation program,” said his nominator. “The accreditation process is time-consuming and requires that he keep track of volumes of material. Ultimately, DWU's continued accreditation is in Mike's hands.” Paul Logan has been the coordinator of housekeeping since 2000, and is the staff member winner. Logan was cited for bringing energy to everyone he meets and being positive in the face of adversity. “Whether it is at 6 a.m. or 9 p.m., Monday or a Sunday, Paul is here working hard to make this campus look great for everyone,” said his nominator. “He does his job with pride and he does it very well.” The Professional Excellence Award is given three times a year to a faculty and staff member. The quarterly winners are then considered for the year-end awards for faculty and staff. Winners are given campus recognition, a watch and gift certificate. The award recognizes employees for “outstanding service, for exemplary commitment to the university and for making a difference in the lives of students.” The DWU Employee Recognition Committee selects the quarterly winners from nominations submitted by faculty, staff members and students. |
