Dec. 8, 2006 Program featuring singer to be rebroadcast
Almjeld, assistant professor of music at Dakota Wesleyan University, was a featured soloist in the original holiday program, which will be rebroadcast nationally to about 180 CBS affiliate stations. “The program was all about peace,” said Almjeld, “and some CBS editor in D.C. saw it and decided he wanted to air it nationally.” That editor told CBS producer Jack Blessington, in New York, about “Christmas at the Cathedral.” He was impressed with the local talent, the cathedral’s beauty and the program’s message of peace during a time of great conflict and instability. Almjeld said during the concert she sang two Mozart arias: “Et Incarnatus Est,” and “Tu Virginum Corona” and leads the audience in “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” She also sang “Son of Peace” with the Sioux Falls Children’s Choir. |
