May 11, 2006 Employees honored at DWU
MITCHELL – Several Dakota Wesleyan University employees were honored May 10 at a special recognition banquet. Matt Moore, administrative computing specialist, received the Presidential Award for Outstanding Service. His nomination cited that Moore “spends many hours throughout the day, evening or often on weekends managing campus technology needs.” Kevin Lein, administrative chair of the education department/assistant professor of education/director of the M.A. in education program, received the Professional Excellence Award for a faculty member. Lein has been employed at DWU since 1992. He was selected by the DWU Faculty Relations Committee to receive the award. Vicki Gukeisen, information secretary for institutional advancement, received the Professional Excellence Award for a staff member. Gukeisen has worked at the university since 2002. She was selected by the DWU Staff Relations Committee to receive the award. Lein and Gukeisen were chosen from a pool of quarterly winners that included Anthony Cole, assistant professor of biochemistry; Jeanie O’Laughlin, assistant professor of business administration; Rhonda Pole, director of internships/associate director of the Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship; and Sara Jorgensen, registrar. Length of service awards were presented to the following employees: 35 years – Marv Miller, professor of religion and philosophy; and George Nielson, professor of sociology/human services; 15 years – Jackie Davis, director of development; Elizabeth Hoffman, assistant professor of nursing; Marlene Warnke, athletic department business manager; and Vicki Welch, assistant professor of communication/theatre; 10 years – Monica Aslesen, custodian; Rod Brown, library assistant/media services; Kevin Kenkel, associate professor/director of learning resources; and Gwenda Koch, vice president for campus life; 5 years – Boyd Blumer, maintenance technician; Lori Bork, assistant professor of nursing; Kathy Budahl, assistant professor of education; Rebecca Feaster, associate professor of education; Pamila Iverson, secretary for institutional advancement; Laurie Langland, assistant professor/university archivist/director of service learning; Lana Loken, clinical education coordinator and assistant professor of athletic training; Adam Neisius, head baseball coach/assistant professor of physical education and sports management/facility management; Vince Redder, assistant professor of English and languages; Dan Wagner, athletic training education program director/assistant athletic trainer/associate professor; Judy Wenzel, administrative coordinator to the president. Retirees Roger Allen, assistant professor of communication/theatre,
and George Nielson, professor of sociology/human services, were recognized
for their years of service to Dakota Wesleyan University. |
