May 24, 2006 Area high school juniors win chance to take a college course MITCHELL – Fourteen area high school juniors have a chance to take a free college course after being named recipients of the Faculty Award for Academic Excellence at Dakota Wesleyan University. Students winning this year’s awards are Tiffany Tolsma, Mitchell, Mitchell Christian High School; Bryce Nussbaum, Plankinton, Plankinton High School; Jenica Pearson, Forestburg, Sanborn Central High School; Sara Hurd, Wagner, Avon High School; Megan Doyle, Alexandria, Hanson High School; Damian Hoffman, Stickney, Stickney High School; Kayla Geppert, Kimball, Kimball High School; Abby Haase, Tyndall, Scotland High School; Sarah Knippling, Gann Valley, Chamberlain High School; Nicole Lauck, Corsica, Corsica High School; Jentre Olsen, Platte, Platte High School; Amanda Metzger, Mt. Vernon, Mt. Vernon High School; Brian Biddle, Geddes, Geddes High School; Kala Pickett, Parkston, Ethan High School. Annually, area high school officials nominate students who are in their junior year to receive the award. The award allows the high school student to take one course at no charge for college credit. Students have the option to take a course during the summer between their junior and senior year, during the fall or spring semester their senior year, or during the summer following their senior year.
