DWU theatre presents “Barefoot in the Park”

DWU theatre presents “Barefoot in the Park”MITCHELL – The DWU communications/theatre department presents “Barefoot in the Park” by Neil Simon, under the direction of assistant professor and director Daniel L. Miller. Productions are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9-11, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12 in the Patten-Wing Theatre in Hughes Science Hall.

DWU’s first production of the season presents audiences with Corie and Paul Bratter (played by Hope Olson, Oakes, N.D., and Ben Floyd, Sioux Falls) who have just moved into an old fifth floor walk-up apartment after their honeymoon at the Plaza Hotel. She is a free-spirited young wife and he is a serious young lawyer. Add her somewhat prudish mother and the charming, yet strange, upstairs neighbor and you get a delightful comedy.

The cast also includes Danny Richardson, Wichita, Kan., as Patty Pepper; Melissa Tafoya, Pueblo, Colo., as Lord and Taylor Delivery; Joe Schoenfelder, Ethan, as Victor Velasco; and Katie Jarabek, Mitchell, as Ethyl Banks. Production staff includes Daniel L. Miller; costume designer Melissa Miller; lighting director Lionel Riley, Chicago; and sound designer Robert E. Winthrop. Crew includes stage manager Demetri D. Antoine, Mission; assistant stage manager Tafoya; house manager Tyron Arrington, Harrisburg, Penn.; dressers Charity Kear, Mandan, N.D.; and Trisha L. Schleich, Mitchell; and stage crew members Michael Duff, Kemmerer, Wyo.; Ryan D. Perry, Richardson, Texas; Shannon Sandoval, Overton, Nev.; and Jennifer Varona-Perez, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
