Nov. 10, 2006 DWU approved to offer Bachelor of Arts Nursing (BAN) program
MITCHELL – Dakota Wesleyan University was granted approval Thursday by the South Dakota Board of Nursing to offer a Bachelor of Arts in Nursing (BAN) completion program starting in fall 2007. “This program provides the opportunity for nurses holding an associate degree to take the next step in their nursing education within the DWU community of learning,” said Gloria Thompson, administrative chair of DWU’s nursing program. “This plan is flexible to accommodate the working nurse. Students can enroll on a full time or part time basis.” The DWU RN to Bachelor of Arts in Nursing (RN-BAN) completion program is an upward mobility program, designed to provide for the professional development of already licensed registered nurses, who have graduated from an associate degree or diploma nursing program. RN students have the opportunity to complete a liberal arts bachelor’s degree, which is built upon the core values of learning, leadership, faith and service. “The nursing component of the RN-BAN completion program is offered online, which accommodates the goal-directed adult learners, who often has multiple roles and an inflexible schedule that makes a face-to-face learning environment inconvenient,” added Adele Jacobson, coordinator of the RN-BAN completion program. “Enrollment for each online nursing course is limited to 20 students in order to enhance teacher/student interaction.” For more information about the nursing program at DWU, contact Gloria Thompson at 995-2889 or glthomps@dwu.edu, Adele Jacobson at 352-2662 or adjacobs@dwu.edu or call enrollment services at 1-800-333-8506. |
