April 27, 2007 DWU Commencement events announced MITCHELL, S.D. – Dakota Wesleyan University will celebrate commencement May 4 and 5 with a host of traditional events. The pinning ceremony for graduating nursing students will be Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m. in the Sherman Center. The pinning ceremony and the Nightingale lamp lighting ceremony will be featured at the event. Thirty-eight nurses from the Mitchell site, nine nurses from the Huron site and 15 nurses from the Sioux Falls program will receive pins. Baccalaureate is scheduled for Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m. in the Sherman Center. The Rev. Howard Grinager, class of ’70, will offer the message, and the Armstrong Award for Peace and Justice will be presented. That afternoon at 2 p.m., Commencement will take place at the Corn Palace. Jack Billion will give the Commencement address, “A World of Tomorrow, Almost Now and Not Quite Yet.” Billion is chairman of the DWU Board of Trustees. An honorary Doctorate of Divinity will be conferred upon the Rev. Howard Grinager, Pierre. An honorary Doctorate of Business Administration will be conferred upon Roger Musick, Mitchell. Sixteen students will receive Master of Arts degrees, 128 students will receive Bachelor of Arts degrees and 63 students will receive Associate of Arts degrees.
