Memorial service to be held for Allen and Flanders

Remembering Alyx and Brandon

We are deeply saddened today as we learn about the deaths of two members of our Wesleyan family, Alyxander Allen and Brandon Flanders.

The information we have received at this time is that Alyx and Brandon were traveling on I-90 near Alexandria when they lost control of their SUV while passing another vehicle. The vehicle rolled in the median and both were killed instantly. The accident occurred early Sunday morning.

Alyx, a native of Minneapolis, attended DWU for the past two years. Alyx played football and shared his creative musical skills with his friends. Alyx graduated this spring with a degree in criminal justice. He lived in Mitchell with his wife, Rebecca, and children, Alyxianna and Alyxander.

Brandon, a native of Miami, was entering his senior year as a secondary mathematics education major. “B” was frequently seen on campus this summer, enrolled in summer courses in order to stay ‘right on track’ for his May graduation. His bright smile and positive energy will be greatly missed.

Our DWU community will be holding a memorial service at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 in the Sherman Center. Members of the Allen family will be present. Friends of both Alyx and Brandon will be sharing their memories during the service. The memorial service will be video taped and sent to their families.

We will have a basket for each family for cards, notes, and memorial contributions. It would mean a great deal to both families to know how their young men are remembered.
