MITCHELL – Patricia Twedt, associate professor of nursing at DWU since 1974, was named the 2006-07 Clarke Award winner during commencement ceremonies May 5.

Twedt’s nominators highlighted her dedication, the high expectations she holds for her students, and her willingness to do whatever necessary to help her students understand nursing concepts.

The award is considered the highest honor for a DWU faculty member. Selection criteria for the Clarke Award include excellence in teaching, excellence in serving the needs of students and service to the institution and to the community. The academic affairs committee of the DWU Board of Trustees makes the final selection. This award was endowed in 1997 by John and the late Vicki Clarke of Mitchell. The award is presented to one faculty member each year at Commencement.
