Sept. 7, 2007 Upcoming auditions for “Deathtrap”
and MITCHELL – The DWU Theatre Department will hold auditions for “Deathtrap” and “When Shakespeare’s Ladies Meet” at 7 p.m. on Sept. 10 and 11 in Patten-Wing Theatre in Hughes Science Hall at DWU. The cast of “Deathtrap” requires three men and two women, and “When Shakespeare’s Ladies Meet” requires six women of all ages. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, a look at individual imagination and some movement on the stage. Auditions are open to all DWU students and all members of the Mitchell community. If you would like to audition at an alternate time or if you have questions, contact the DWU Theatre Department by calling 995-2710. “Deathtrap” is one of the great popular successes of recent Broadway history. This ingeniously constructed play offers a rare and skillful blending of two priceless theatrical ingredients—gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter. Dealing with the devious machinations of a writer of thrillers whose recent offerings have been flops, and who is prepared to go to any lengths to improve his fortunes, it provides twists and turns and sudden shocks in such abundance that audiences will be held spellbound until the very last moment. In Charles George’s comedy “When Shakespeare’s Ladies Meet,” imagine the fun when six of Shakespeare's heroines get together to discuss the universal topic—love. That's what happens in this 30-minute playlet. Juliet has just fallen in love with Romeo and the other ladies of the Bard's imagination convene to enlighten her on the best method of conducting a romance.
