April 19, 2008 Heth and Haber named Scotchman and Miss Wesleyan
Heth, Winner, was named the 70th Scotchman, and Haber, Sioux Falls, was named the 79th Miss Wesleyan. Scotchman and Miss Wesleyan are the highest honors given to an outstanding senior man and woman. The award is based on scholarship, character and overall contributions to the university. Heth is majoring in biology with minors in biochemistry and math. He plans to earn a master’s degree in health care administration or public health and then go on to medical school. Heth has held leadership positions in the Multicultural Committee and Oyate Ho Waste. He worked with Student Ministry Council at the Crow Creek Reservation and went on a mission trip to Peru. Heth is a member of Sigma Zeta, has repeatedly been on the dean’s list, and is listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He is the son of Gilbert and Dorothy Heth. Haber has a double major in elementary education and Spanish. She plans to teach in an elementary school. Haber has held offices in Student Association Senate and Student Ministry Council, and she’s been a member of Future Teachers Organization, Wesleyan Bells, the Phreno Cosmian, Spanish Club and the University Scholars Program. She served as the interpreter during the 2005and 2006 Peru mission trips. Haber is a Randall Scholar, a R.E.D.I. Scholar, and a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Gamma Mu honor societies. She is listed in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. She is the daughter of Tom and Donna Haber.
