Aug. 25, 2008 Qvarnemark presents research results at national meeting
MITCHELL — Linda Qvarnemark, assistant professor of biology, presented her research to approximately 3,000 people at the annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America in Milwaukee, Wis. The theme for this year’s meeting was “Enhancing ecological thought by linking research and education.” Qvarnemark’s presentation was “Effects of Nitrogen and Native Insect Herbivory on Growth of Canada Thistles in Tallgrass Prairie.” The results were from research she conducted as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln just before joining the faculty at Dakota Wesleyan. Her collaborators on the project were Svata Louda (University of Nebraska – Lincoln) and Leland Russell (Wichita State University).
