Von Eye honored by SDCTM

Rocky Von EyeMITCHELL – Rocky Von Eye, professor of mathematics at Dakota Wesleyan University, was honored by the South Dakota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (SDCTM) at its annual convention on Feb. 8 in Huron.

Von Eye received the distinguished service award in appreciation for her dedicated service to SDCTM. She was cited for what she did to “keep SDCTM alive during the lean years and to help it grow into the organization it is today. But most of all because of all the young teachers she has turned into vibrant members of SDCTM.”

Von Eye earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from South Dakota State University in mathematics and computer science. Her doctorate is from the University of South Dakota. She has been at DWU since 1984. She has taught courses in computer science and mathematics. She has also been assistant academic dean and acting vice president of academic affairs. Von Eye received the Presidential Award for Excellence in mathematics teaching. She also received a Kellogg National Leadership Fellowship.

Von Eye is currently administering the Title III grant from the Department of Education for administrative and instructional technology.
