Event Center Survey to Begin Week of Jan. 14

MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University students will begin calling Mitchell voters next week for the event center survey authorized by the Mitchell City Council last month.

The survey is designed to identify public opinion on a variety of issues related to the event center proposal in order to assist the city council in determining a future course of action. Students, working under the supervision of project directors Dave Mitchell, DWU Professor of Business, and Don Simmons, director of the McGovern Center for Public Service, will ask questions about what voters think are appropriate options with regard to size, location, financing and a number of other topics related to any future proposal for an event center for the community.

The survey is expected to take five to six minutes to complete. Mitchell and Simmons expect good response to the survey.

“The subject is of high interest to many Mitchell residents, so we expect a general willingness to participate,” said Mitchell. “It’s also beneficial that the survey does not require a significant time commitment for responders.”

The goal of the project is to complete data collection and analysis in time to present a preliminary report to the city council in early February.
