MITCHELL, S.D. — The Dakota Wesleyan University Music Department will host the South Dakota Symphony’s Dakota Chamber Orchestra performance at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26 in the Sherman Center on the DWU campus.

“The final piece of the concert by Philip Wharton should be the highlight of the evening,” said Dan Barnard, composer in residence at DWU. “Wharton is only 38 and is from Iowa. His work is contemporary yet very accessible. He has not forgotten about his audience.”

Delta David Gier will conduct the concert.

This will be the fourth time the chamber orchestra has performed in a DWU-sponsored concert. The evening’s program will include selections by Bach, Mozart and Wharton.

The performance is free and open to the public.
