Mar. 18, 2008 Peters to present Stark Lectures
MITCHELL – Ted Peters, research professor at the Center for Theology and Natural Sciences at the Graduate Theological Union, will present “Science and Faith” for the annual Stark Lectures at Dakota Wesleyan University. Peters will speak on “Science and Faith: Friends or Foes?” at 11 a.m., and “Can You Believe in God and Evolution?” at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 3 in DWU's Sherman Center. These lectures are free and open to the public. Peters is a theologian, teacher and researcher in the areas of contemporary theology and the relationship between science and religion. He is a Lutheran theologian and an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, teaching in an ecumenical institution with students from an array of differing denominations. Peters has also been a leading contributor in the area of the relationship between religion and science. He is coeditor of the journal “Theology and Science” which is published by the Center for Theology and Natural Sciences. He is the author of several books, including “Bridging Science and Religion” published by Augsburg Press. He currently serves on the Scientific and Medical Accountability Standards Working Group for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine and the Genetics Task Force of the ELCA.
