Heth selected for Summer Institute
in Biostatistics

Bronson Heth |
MITCHELL, S.D. – Bronson Heth, Winner, has been selected to participate
in Boston University's Summer Institute in Biostatistics (SIBS).
Heth will be participating in a six-week learning and research program
from June 9 to July 18. He will also be participating with other students
in the SIBS in receiving training in biostatistics, which is the application
of mathematics and statistics to medical research. Along with participants
from other summer research programs on campus, he will be attending
workshops on clinical trials, statistical genetics and issues in ethical
conduct of research as well as a number of social events.
Topics included in the program are biostatistic analysis, epidemiology,
design and conduct of clinical trials, and statistical genetics.
“When I received notice of this seminar, I immediately thought
of Bronson,” said Rocky Von Eye, professor of mathematics who
recommended Heth for the program. “This seminar will be a wonderful
opportunity for Bronson to experience firsthand the blending of his
two loves, mathematics and biology.”
Heth is a senior at Dakota Wesleyan University and will graduate in
May with a major in biology and minors in biochemistry and mathematics.
He plans to attend graduate school for a master’s degree in healthcare
administration or public health and go on to attend medical school. |
