April 13, 2009 Spring concert to be held at DWU MITCHELL – The annual DWU spring music concert titled “Twelve Prayers” is at 7 p.m. on April 23 in the Sherman Center at DWU. The Dakota Wesleyan Choir, the Highlanders, and the Wesleyan University/Community Band will perform. The concert is free and open to the public. “It’s been eye-opening to see how many kinds of prayers have been set to music over the years,” said Daniel Barnard, composer in residence at DWU. “The audience will be struck by the diversity and the poignancy of the lyrics. Some are as familiar as the Lord’s Prayer, some as esoteric as the Prayer of the Dove, which is a fanciful view of Noah’s Ark. The Prayer of the Children is the most moving of the prayers.” |
