Share What You Wear gets organized

MITCHELL — Donations are in, volunteers are mobilized and the pressure is on.

Dakota Wesleyan will be brimming with activity Saturday morning as people venture into the Christen Family Wellness Center for the first-ever Share What You Wear community clothing drive.

Doors will open at 8 a.m. Saturday and the gym is separated into two categories – men’s and women’s – by a center-court coat rack. Toys, household items and shoes are also available. No money will exchange hands – this shopping spree is free and runs until 5 p.m.

The DWU softball team is hosting the community project, with softball coach Marie McCarthy-Foster heading it up. She got the idea from a community college she used to work at in Iowa.

“There, we’d have 300 people waiting outside in line to get in – in the snow,” she said.

Volunteers will still be needed Saturday and willing participants can contact McCarthy-Foster at mamccart@dwu.edu, or call her at 995-2178.
