Rehearsals for ‘Messiah’
to begin
MITCHELL — A talent search is on for able vocal cords attached
to willing bodies.
Hanson Community Chorus and Huron Symphony will join with the Dakota
Wesleyan choir to perform Handel’s “Messiah” and these
groups are inviting singers from the surrounding area to join them for
rehearsals and the concert. The concert performances will be at 4 p.m.
Dec. 6 in Huron and at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 in Mitchell at the Sherman Center.
“The ‘Messiah’ is one of the most performed and beloved
choral works of all time and is often performed during the Christmas season,”
said DWU choir director Dan Barnard. “The opportunity to perform
it with a large choral ensemble and a full orchestra is rare in a community
our size and only possible because of the collaborative spirit of the
three principal sponsoring organizations.”
Rehearsals are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 1 p.m.
in Smith Hall. The Hanson County Choir, under the direction of Liz Soladay,
rehearses in Alexandria.
