Nursing student convention at DWU
this week
MITCHELL — The Nursing Student Association of South Dakota Convention
will be on Dakota Wesleyan University’s campus this week for the
first time.
DWU has hosted this two-day event seven times, but this will be the first
time it will be on campus. The convention begins at 8 a.m. Friday and
runs until 2 p.m. Saturday. The convention brings more than 300 potential
and current health professionals to campus and acts as a major networking
source for South Dakota student nurses.
Pre-registration has passed, but participants may still register at the
door for $60 for both days.
Various speakers from area hospitals and clinics present individually
and in panels on preventing compassion fatigue, experiences of specialty
nurses and current issues in the nursing profession, organ donation, and
preparation for the RN licensing exam. There will be representatives from
various health care fields, hospitals and clinics both days, as well as
a silent auction on Friday. Also, DWU Outstanding Nursing Students Lizz
Waldow, Mitchell, and Sarah Grings, Huron, will represent their classmates
at the state ONS competition on Saturday. |
