‘Hungry for Green’ – second film in series to be shown

MITCHELL — The second film in the McGovern Center Film Series will be presented this month at Dakota Wesleyan University.

“Hungry for Green: Feeding the World Sustainably,” the second film of the 2009-10 McGovern Center Film Series, will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, in Room 126 of the McGovern Library and followed by a discussion with individuals featured in the film. The film uses the 2008 McGovern Center Conference as a jumping-off point for a discussion on the challenge of feeding the world’s ever expanding world population sustainably, as well as the future of agriculture in America and abroad.

“This is an important film that underscores the urgency of achieving agricultural sustainability to help alleviate hunger and protect our natural environment,” said Ken Burns, a documentary film maker who has been nominated for two Academy Awards and is a winner of 10 Emmys for his work.

Narrated by Senator George McGovern, the film features a number of notable campus representatives and celebrities. For more information about the McGovern Center Film Series, contact Don Simmons at 995-2937, or dosimmon@dwu.edu.
