Annual McGovern celebration cancelled

MITCHELL — The annual birthday celebration for George McGovern will not take place this year due to commitments keeping the former senator and presidential nominee away from Mitchell that weekend.

McGovern celebrates his 88th birthday on July 19, and this will also be the 38th anniversary of his presidential nomination. Both events are usually celebrated on July 10 at the McGovern Library on campus.
