Kelley Center Announces Entrepreneur
in Residence Program to Begin This Fall
MITCHELL — The Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship at Dakota Wesleyan
University has announced a new program – the Entrepreneur in Residence
Program.
The focus of the program is to enhance the campus community’s exposure
to entrepreneurial thinking and behavior, such as creativity, spirit of
initiative, leadership, risk-taking and social responsibility. Students
and faculty will be exposed to entrepreneurs’ insights, experiences,
leadership styles and business advice through one-on-one interviews and
classroom presentations.

The program will bring Wade Beavers, CEO of DoApp Inc. and mRemedy Inc.,
to the university on Nov. 17, highlighting not only this new program but
Global Entrepreneurship Week. Beavers’ leadership has developed
the company into being the largest distributor of news applications in
the market today. In addition, as CEO of mRemedy, a partnership between
DoApp and the Mayo Clinic, Beavers has led innovation in the development
of tracker applications for hospitals, physicians and other medical professionals
to provide for patients.
Previously, he was with IBM, where he served as a user experience architect,
overseeing global execution plans for the company’s small business
systems offerings. He was responsible for designing user process and experience
for all products. He holds several patents, has been an IBM Excel award
winner, and has received several awards from the Society for Technical
Communication. Beavers and his company have been featured on MSNBC; online
at Mashable and Bloomberg BusinessWeek; as well as in Inc. magazine, ESPN
The Magazine and Fortune magazine.
Earlier in his career he held a variety of positions in the media industry,
with newspaper, TV and radio firms. He also has developed brand and marketing
strategies as a consultant for a variety of clients in professional sports,
music, retail and sports recreation.
He is a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., where he earned
his Bachelor of Arts degree in mass media communication and obtained his
Master of Science degree from Utah State University in English with an
emphasis in technical communication.
