Commemorative Postmark Celebrates
125th Anniversary
of Dakota Wesleyan University
On
Friday, Oct. 1, the Mitchell Post Office will team with Dakota Wesleyan
University to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the university.
On that date, Postmaster Kate Aulner, DWU Class of ’71, will be
at the McGovern Library on campus from noon-2 p.m. with a special commemorative
postmark. Customers can have the collectible postmark applied to items
bearing proper postage. The university will have souvenir postcards for
sale in the bookstore.
Also as part of the celebration, the university will host the Opperman
Lecture at 11 a.m., Oct. 1, followed by book signings at 11:45 a.m. and
1:30 p.m. in the library. Professor Emeritus James McLaird will speak
about and sign the newly released “Dakota Wesleyan University Memory
Book, 1885-2010.”
Commemorative postmarks make great collectibles. Can’t make it
to DWU on Oct.1? The postmark is also available for 30 days after by mail.
To request by mail, affix First-Class postage to an envelope or postcard
of your choice, using any stamps that were issued before Oct. 1. Place
in a larger envelope (along with a large self-addressed stamped envelope
for the return trip) and send to:
